Marine in the Community (MITC) New Year Report

Happy New Year! MITC extends warm wishes for a prosperous and successful 2025 to everyone. Over the festive period, we were busy supporting our community by delivering free lunches to vulnerable individuals and distributing winter warm bags, with invaluable support from Sefton CVS.

Our Christmas party was a tremendous success, bringing together over 100 local residents. This event has become one of our favourite community gatherings of the year. Remember, our community café is open every Friday from 12 noon to 2 pm, and everyone is welcome!

The new year has kicked off on a high note, with increased participation in our Friday morning Yoga and Zumba classes. Walking football for both men and women continues to draw large numbers on Monday evenings. If you’re interested in joining any of our activities, please reach out to us.

For younger football enthusiasts, we host coaching sessions every Tuesday and Wednesday for children aged 5 to 12. These are led by first-team player Leigh Whelan and first-team coach Sean O’Dochartaigh. These sessions offer a fantastic opportunity to enhance football skills, build fitness, make friends, and enjoy our weekly Champions League tournament on Wednesdays. The sessions are recreational, inclusive, and open to children of all abilities and backgrounds.

Football Camp: February 17th, 18th and 19th we are start our holiday football camp. They start at 10am to 1pm and our suitable for children from 5 to 12 years of age. The sessions are run by one our first team coaches and players. They are fun, inclusive and a great way to enjoy the holidays without taking up your whole day. The Hub
We’re thrilled to announce that construction has begun on our new community hub! This exciting project is expected to be completed by late February. The hub will be a valuable addition to MITC and Marine FC, enabling us to expand our community outreach and support people of all ages—from 5 to 95.

We are still seeking a sponsor for the lounge and coffee bar, as well as for fixtures and fittings. Once operational, the hub will be available for business meetings, activities, and private events. It will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including Wi-Fi, modern equipment, and catering capabilities for small gatherings. This will further establish Marine as a leading community-focused club in the league.

We are proud of the work we’re doing to go beyond football and make a tangible difference in our community. None of this would be possible without the dedication and hard work of our staff, coaches, and volunteers

If you’re interested in supporting MITC, sponsoring our activities, or joining our initiatives, please don’t hesitate to contact me or Sean. Additionally, if you know someone who could benefit from our programs, we’d love to hear from them. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to strengthen our community.
