MITC last week rolled out a new programme called Literacy Kicks in partnership with the Northern Premier League. The project is being led by Gareth Walker, who has been a sports reporter for more than 20 years.
The work is to encourage children to improve their English and enjoy the excitement of being reporters, editors, and interviewing players and managers. The programme is proving to be a huge success in other schools, and we are proud to be delivering it for free in our partnered schools, Valewood Primary and St. Luke’s. The programme will run for the next six weeks and culminate in watching and reporting on a match at Marine. The project is sponsored by Pitching In, and we are proud to support our local schools and children in our community.
