Marine in the Community would like to welcome everyone back to a new and exciting season, and to wish Bobby and the first team every success for the campaign ahead.
We’ve been working hard over the close season and are delighted to announce that the new Community Hub is now in place. It is almost complete, and we hope it will be fully up and running in the next couple of weeks. The Hub has cost MITC over £100,000 and will be a fantastic addition to the charitable arm of the club, enabling us to provide a wide range of support and activities throughout the week.
These will include daily health and wellbeing classes, a weekly café, and our Friday Walking Football session (11am–12 noon), which complements the already thriving Monday night walking football group. We also plan to introduce a youth club, choir, evening classes, and much more. We’ll keep you updated as the Hub takes shape and share a full programme of activities soon.
Alongside this, the Hub will be available for hire in its excellent location—suitable for health classes, parties, corporate events, and more. If you are interested, please contact Graeme Gardiner at graeme@marineinthecommunity.com. The Hub has been fitted to a high standard, with full internet access, smart TV, sound system, kitchen, toilets, and catering available if required. Please do take the time to come in, say hello, and have a look around.
A huge thanks goes to the club for their continued support, and to all our sponsors, fundraisers, and donors who have helped make this possible. In a short time, MITC has built up a strong reputation across the region for its community work, and we are confident this new addition will further enhance the impact we can have in serving the residents of Crosby and Sefton.
Over the summer, we successfully delivered a Business Enterprise project in partnership with Sacred Heart High School—special thanks to James Leary and Ian Wolstenholme for
MITC also ran four weeks of soccer camps during the summer holidays. A big thanks goes to our Head Coach, Seán Ó Dochartaigh, for leading an excellent programme of activities, ably supported by Leigh Whelan, Arron Graham, Callum Swirls, Liam Patton and Matt Calderbank who all did a fantastic job.
Looking ahead to September, we return to our regular activities. For younger football enthusiasts, we host weekly coaching sessions every Tuesday and Wednesday for children aged 5–12. These sessions offer a brilliant opportunity to develop football skills, build fitness, make friends, and take part in our weekly Champions League tournament on Wednesdays. The sessions are recreational, inclusive, and open to children of all abilities and backgrounds.
Our Friday Welcome Café returns on 5th September (12pm–2pm). It remains one of the most popular social cafés in the region, offering great food, plenty of fun, music, and singing for the over-60s.
Zumba (10am to 10:45) & Yoga (10:45 to 11:30) every Friday only £4 per session and £7 for both.
Our Heritage Walking Group also restarts on 4th September and will continue fortnightly. The walks explore local heritage sites, provide a healthy outdoor activity with a welcoming group of people, and always finish with a well-earned coffee.
We are proud of the work we’re doing to go beyond football and make a real difference in our community. None of this would be possible without the dedication and commitment of our staff, coaches, and volunteers.
If you’re interested in supporting MITC, sponsoring our activities, hiring our facility, a new partnership, or joining our initiatives, please don’t hesitate to contact me or Sean. Likewise, if you know someone who could benefit from our programmes, we’d love to hear from them. It really does change lives for the better.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to strengthen our community.
Best regards,
Graeme Gardiner
