This week’s Star of the Week is St. Luke’s Halsall. Located just around the corner from Marine, St. Luke’s has been an amazing school to work with. The school participates in various coaching activities across a range of sports with our first team coaches and players. As part of our coaching programme and partnership, they have worked on several initiatives through MITC.
Recently, St Luke’s took part in our Literacy Kicks programme, where Year 6 students engaged in a six-week sports journalism course. For the final part of the programme, they attended the Marine vs. Needham Market game in the National League North. This was a fantastic opportunity for them to put their skills to the test by writing match reports, interviewing players and the manager, and importantly, getting pictures and autographs from their local heroes.
It is important for Marine In The Community to be involved in our local area and support school coaching, especially as a charity organisation where our work can be reinvested locally. We would like to thank the headteacher of St. Luke’s, Richard Miller, and his staff and pupils for their fantastic support.
If any schools would like get involved with MITC, please contact graeme@marineinthecommunity.com. Let’s keep it in the community!
