Last week, we welcomed Lucas from Chesterfield High School for a work experience placement. During his time with us, Lucas shadowed our community manager, Seán. He assisted with administrative tasks and also went to St. Luke’s Primary School to help with physical education. Additionally, he participated in community coaching at Marine. On Friday, Lucas had a busy day, helping with yoga, Zumba, walking football, and the Community Café. He was a credit to his school, and we would like to extend our gratitude to him for the week. Congratulations to Lucas on being named Star of the Week!
Below is a Paragraph from Lucas about his week
‘Over the past week I have completed work experience with marine in the community. During the corse of the week I have been with Sean and learned a variety of skills which will help me later in life, for example I have been at St. Luke’s taking PE lessons which marine in the community offer to local schools. I have learnt how to deal with children and how to get the best out of their education. Marine have taught me skills on how to get the most out of sessions and adapt them to to different age groups whilst keeping to the schools curriculum. Marine have a real positive impact on the community and I could tell how much it meant to both the teachers and even the students at the school. This is one of many examples that I experienced of marine in the community and what they offer, i personally think that marine are a massive help to locals after getting a taste for how it works. I would like to give a massive thanks to Sean and Graham who were massive helps during the week and give a lot of their time and effort to help others.’
